The water pipe that has become the new standard is called PEX. This pipe is impervious to hard water, low PH, erosion, and corrosion. PEX pipe can also withstand a freeze up without rupturing. PEX has been used in radiant floor heating systems for many years. PEX is approximately 1/3 the cost of copper pipe and the installation time is almost cut in half, which means the savings can be passed on to the customer.
